The three-day curriculum begins with an introduction to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS), and the fundamentals of particle accelerators. On the second day, students will engage in building models of key SNS components using LEGO® bricks, bringing complex concepts to life in a fun and interactive way. The final day focuses on the diverse careers that contribute to the groundbreaking science at SNS, helping students connect STEM learning to real-world opportunities.
We are also working to establish a special STEM visit day at ORNL for local program participants. This experience will allow students to tour the facility, see real components that inspired their models, and meet the scientists, engineers, and technicians who make SNS and ORNL research possible.
